Patrick FitzGerald has built or helped to build hundreds of companies across dozens of industries over the past twenty years as a founder, angel investor and corporate venture capitalist. His companies have raised and deployed over $4B in capital from venture capital, private equity and public markets.

He has been a Wharton adjunct entrepreneurship professor since 2011 teaching an extremely popular course for undergrads and MBAs alike that shows them how to build market ready startups over the course of a semester. The course has resulted in the creation of dozens of startups ranging from household names like Deliveroo in the UK to FelixPago-the leading platform for immigrants looking for alternative ways to send money home.  

Patrick was the first ever Entrepreneur in Residence at the Bank of New York and created the world’s first department of pediatric entrepreneurship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is currently a Partner at Mach49, where he helps the global Fortune 1000 learn how to partner with and invest in startups. World renown companies and institutions like Harrods, Teradyne Robotics, University of Utah, Target, and L’Oreal have relied on his keen insights into the startup and venture capital landscape. 

Patrick is regularly invited to be the keynote speaker or moderator at universities and conferences around the world including South by Southwest, Global Corporate Venturing Institute, Latitude 49, Podim, Mobile World Congress, Money 20/20, MIT and Harvard.  His work with startups and entrepreneurs has been highlighted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, CNN and the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was a former entrepreneurial columnist for The Huffington Post.  

Patrick graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with his BA and from Fordham University School of Law with his JD. In his spare time, he has coached over 1,000+ youth sports games across 5 sports in the Philadelphia area.
